1. Vocabulary - Health: Accidents and Emergencies


VOCABULARY
 
Sprain
It is an injure without fracture and this produces several pain, caused by the ligament being stretched beyond its own capacity.
 
First aid kit
It is a collection of supplies and equipment for use in giving firs aid.
 
Crutches
It is a mobility aid that transfers weight from the legs to the upper body. 
Plaster
It is a material used for coating wall or medical things that is mixed with water to form a paste when used.
 
Sling
A bandage to support an injured arm. 
 
(Plaster) Cast
It is used as a support for broken bones; a bandage impregnated with plaster is moistened and the involved around the damaged broken bone.
 
Bruise
It is also called contusion, is a type of hematoma, a bruise is always caused by internal bleeding into the interstitial tissues which does not break through the skin, usually initiated by blunt trauma.
Faint
Also called syncope is a term for fainting.
 
Stitches
It is used by doctors and surgeons to hold tissue together.
Scar
It is an area of fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after injury. A scar results from the biological process of wound repair in the skin and others tissues of the body.
 
Blood donor
It occurs when a person voluntarily has blood drawn and used for transfusions.
